On Sunday the 30th of May players, management, and supporters connected to Cefn Albion football club will be meeting for the annual Christmas get-together. Yep, you heard that right a Christmas get-together in May. Following recent charity event successes, this year we planned to use the opportunity to raise some more money for 5-year-old Sophia Morris who we all know was cleared of cancer back in August 2020, Click Sargent UK, Alderhey, and Wrexham Maelor Children’s ward. However, due to the global pandemic, we were unable to host the fundraiser and we are absolutely delighted to be able to fulfill what we intended to do back in December.
Given the current climate and the global pandemic, we are still living there will be a limit on the numbers so please ensure that you reserve your spot quickly to be part of what is usually a special day. Fortunately, with the CMCSC being able to accommodate a fairly large number of guests whilst maintaining and adhering to all social distancing guidelines, it enables us to conduct this charity in a safe manner whilst raising money for a fantastic cause!
Usually, we do a darts and pool knockout but we felt that this would encourage too much 'mingling' resulting in guidelines being broken which is not what we want, and will be doing everything to ensure does not happen! Instead, Nick Jones, who works tirelessly for our club, has come up with a plan to safely conduct a 'Christmas' quiz which will see teams be broken into four and socially distanced within their group. All proceeds will kindly be donated to our chosen charities. Anyone who does not follow the rules set out by the CMCSC will be asked to leave the premises, the safety of everyone is paramount!
We are still looking for more raffle prizes so that we can raise additional funds and donate them towards this year's charities, if you think that you can help then please do get in touch with the club, Haydn Evans, Dean Morris, Nick Jones or the Cefn Legion. Thanks in advance!
The competitions will begin at 13:00 at our fantastic HQ, the Cefn Mawr Community Social Club. The format and rules are as follows:
Usually, all players taking part should wear a Christmas jumper but given we are now in May it is no longer compulsory, of course, if you want to wear your Christmas jumper then, by all means, do so :)
Under the current circumstances. it is going to take a lot of effort to make it work this year so we need everyone's full cooperation, please.
