Although the score line doesn’t suggest it, this was a good response and spirited performance from the bad defeat to local neighbours Chirk AAA and for those who stood up on the Muga today, they will know that the lads put in a good shift and were unfortunate to be on the end of a 5-1 defeat.
The visitors to the Muga this afternoon were last season’s Welsh National League Champions FC Nomads of CQ so the boys knew that they would be in for a tough game. The afternoon couldn't have started any worse for the Albion and they found themselves 1-0 down after only 1 minute of play with Nomads converting from their very first attack. From that moment, the boys responding extremely well and controlled the entire first half, we were very unlucky not to score at least an equaliser. As it happens nomads had one shot and scored which meant 0-1 at HT.
The boys started the second half well but some injuries to some key players took its toll on the team and the reigning champions began to grow into the game. They scored two quick fire goals but Craig Roberts replied to make it three one. However, the visitors finished strong and added two further goals in the last 10 minutes to seal the win.
We wanted a response from midweek and believe it or not there was a good response from the lads. We have a young side and we need to learn in this league that you need to make it count when you’re on top.
We now turn our attention to Sychdyn next week in the welsh trophy.
