In a bid to raise vital funds for key club and community initiatives, we are proud to launch our ‘Fuel the Future’ campaign with the announcement of the Cefn Albion Football Fundraiser, taking place at The MUGA in Cefn Mawr on Saturday 31 May, ahead of our End of Season Presentation Evening, which starts at 17:00 in the sports bar at The Cefn Club.
The action kicks off at 13:30, as a team of Cefn Albion Legends and local icons, managed by former club gaffers Phil Bathers, Stephen “Wacky” Davies and Paul “Roger” Conlan, take on a side made up of current first and reserve team players, led by Jack “Nudge” Richards and Ellis Leighton from the management team. Both management teams are already assembling their squads for what promises to be a competitive and entertaining fixture in the heart of our local community. The only question is, who will come out on top? Will experience prevail, or will youth and energy prove decisive? The WhatsApp groups are already lively, and it’ll be great to see so many top lads back in a Cefn shirt — even if only for one day!
Participation is £10 per person for players and management who wish to get involved. If you haven’t been approached but are interested, please reach out to the management team! Proceeds will cover the ground hire, with all remaining funds going towards an important long-term goal, the purchase of a club and community minibus. This forms part of our wider ‘Fuel the Future’ campaign, helping Cefn Albion and the wider community reach new opportunities both on and off the pitch. The minibus will not only support the football club in travelling to away fixtures across North and Mid Wales in the Ardal North East league, but will also be made available to local schools, youth groups and sports clubs, extending its impact well beyond football. More information about this will be released in due course!
To support the initiative, a GoFundMe page will be set up, where further information will be shared about the campaign and its community benefit. For anyone unable to attend, donations can be made via GoFundMe or directly into the club’s official PayPal account. All funds raised from this and future events will be added to the campaign, allowing everyone to track the progress as we work towards our target.
After the football, our End of Season Presentation Evening will take place, where we will recognise standout contributions with awards for Players’ Player, Managers’ Player and Top Goal Scorer. Food will be provided for all Cefn Albion players and management. We ask that all players and staff be at The Cefn Club no later than 16:45, with presentations due to begin around 17:00. Everyone involved in the football fundraiser is welcome and encouraged to attend too; win or lose, there is nothing better than a few cold drinks amongst friends.
There’ll also be plenty happening throughout the day at The Muga, including raffles, refreshments, and we are hopeful of hosting a Golden Goal competition on the day for the Champions League final between PSG and Inter Milan, which kicks off at 20:00.
Please do your very best to come together as a club and a community to support a cause that will benefit many for years to come. #FuelTheFuture
