We are pleased to announce that Cefn Albion will be returning ‘home’ to the Muga ahead of the 2020/21 season. With so many football clubs within the local area our reserves, due to their competing level found themselves moved and fulfilling their home fixtures on Ty Mawr field. However, with the new restructure that has recently affected welsh football our reserves are now the highest competing reserve team in the village so regain the right to play football in the heart of our village once again, at the Muga. Amongst all of the planning ahead of the new season It’s something that we identified and prioritised and now that it has been confirmed we are looking forward to returning there and playing our home games on a ground that brought us so much success rising through the divisions. Hopefully, we can bring the huge crowds that we witnessed on the famous Muga bank
We would like to thank all those who helped in making the move back possible, including CMCC. Exciting times ahead for Phil Bathers, Kev Edwards, and the reserve team they are building!
We caught up with reserve team manager Phil Bathers who said
“To have our home games back in the heart of our village is fantastic news, the whole set up for both players and spectators is just how football games should be staged locally. I know the players feel the presence of spectators that gather on the muga bank and it’s a huge motivation during games. It’ll suit our new style of shape and set up and give us a good base along with the Rock to help develop our young set of players. The reserve league is going to be a tough challenge next year which I’m sure the players will relish and knowing the muga will be our home ground is an added bonus to what myself and Kev are trying to bring to the players.”
Phil continued by thanking Dean Morris and the rest of the Cefn Albion committee for getting this one over the line. Excellent news!
