Cefn Albion to surprise 12 year old Ella this Christmas

We recently announced that on Sunday the 19th of December players, management, and supporters connected to Cefn Albion football club will be meeting for the annual Christmas get-together and that we would be raising some more money for a worthy local cause. Something we do every year.

Now everything has been agreed we are delighted to announce that all proceeds raised from this year's Christmas Jumper day will be donated to 12 year old Ella Evans who recently lost her mother, well renowned local girl Katie Evans.

Katie, who is the Niece of our very own Haydn Evans tragically passed away on the 19th of October 2021 leaving behind her 12 year old daughter Ella who also lost her father at a very young age too. Katie’s sudden passing left the whole community of Cefn Mawr in shock so it was no surprise to see that a Facebook fund page, organised by Katie’s best friend Gemma Jones, accumulated almost £4,000 in a very short period of time. All proceeds from the Fund were handed to Katie’s mum Denise and Ella to help them both through an extremely difficult time. Local people still continue to donate to an amazing cause which goes to show the community spirit we have in Cefn Mawr!

With Christmas around the corner, we found out that little Ella had asked her remaining family for a new iPhone so we want to do everything we can to raise enough money to ensure that she wakes up to the newest model on Christmas morning! Every single penny that we raise on the 19th will be used to make her wish come true and hopefully, bring a smile to a little girl's face who has experienced so much already in her young life. Hopefully, it's the full amount!

Cefners rarely disappoint and in recent years this Christmas jumper event has raised substantial amounts of money for worthy causes. Just last year we helped raise funds for little Sophia Morris who was battling cancer, and other charities include Alder Hey, Nightingale house and the Wrexham Maelor intensive care unit who played a significant role in helping save the life of Ella’s aunty Claire.

We usually have a great turnout for this but we are urging everyone connected to the football club and beyond to please come and get behind the event again this year. It's such a worthy cause and the more people we can attract the more money we can raise for Ella, let's bring her a little bit of happiness this Christmas, it's the least she deserves. Katie has many other connections to our club, her mum Denise used to feed the lads every post-match at the legion and she is a family member to committee members Barrie John and Nick Jones who is organising this event! Her Brother Craig is a regular supporter of our teams. It's such a fitting cause again this year!

Thank you to all those who have already donated raffle prizes, it's much appreciated! If you would like to donate a raffle prize or if you are unable to make the event and you would like to make a cash donation please contact the club and we will ensure it is added to Ella's Christmas fund. We have an official club Paypal account that can be used to transfer any donations. Thank You!
