Cefn Mawr Residential Home to benefit from Druids v Albion Preseason friendly

Cefn Druids v Cefn Albion

The Rock| KO:19:30 | 26/07/17

As most people will already know we recently linked up with our Welsh Premier League neighbours Cefn Druids AFC in a bid to grow stronger links between two local clubs. In addition to the exciting footballing opportunities that this will bring we are hoping that the decision will be well received within the community of Cefn Mawr and as a result helps to unite the village even more than what it already is.

Although we have participated in a preseason friendly fixture with Cefn Druids over the last few years, most noticeable last year which raised funds for Cefn Mawr Play group, with the official announcement of the two clubs agreeing to associate we both want to place even more emphasis on the fixture this year and hopefully raise a decent amount of money for another local cause.

We have decided on Wednesday 26th July as the date that Cefn Druids and Cefn Albion will meet at the Rock kicking with kick off scheduled for 19:30. Cefn Albion chairman Haydn Evans and Cefn Druids chairman John Hughes have agreed that ALL proceeds from the fixture will be donated to Plas Bod Llwyd a local residential home located at the bottom of Cefn Mawr near Ty Mawr Country Park. So that we can attempt to raise a good amount of money for a fantastic cause we have decided to charge a small fee to come and spectate. Prices are:

Adults - £3.00
Concessions - £1.00
Children - £1.00

With such a close community I’m sure we all know someone who either cares/cared, is under care or has been cared for in the past at Plas Bod Llwyd so we really want to encourage the people of Cefn Mawr and beyond to come and get involved with what the two clubs are trying to do. Our chairman Haydn Evans wanted to let everyone know that ALL Cefn Albion players, management and committee will also be asked to contribute with all proceeds collected being added to the gate money and whatever else is collected on the night. We appreciate that this preseason fixture will be good preparations for the new season but we really want Plas Bod Llwyd to be the main beneficiary and that can only happen with more spectators coming along and getting involved.

If you are unable to make the game and you would like to donate towards the event then please get in touch with either football club and we can arrange for everything to be sorted. We are hoping that this will be the first of many successfully events between Cefn Albion and Cefn Druids so that we can raise money for more charities and local causes.
