Over the years a lot has happened between past Cefn and Queens Park teams but all that was brushed aside today, and a new era dawned all in aid for a little girl called Dakota Roberts who is not expected to live beyond five.
Dakota Roberts can have more than 80 fits a day and is not expected to live past five. Her battling parents Amy Trow and Daniel Roberts are desperate to raise £200,000 to take their daughter to America for treatment. Dakota who did not breathe for the first seven and a half minutes of her life was born with meningitis before being diagnosed with cerebral palsy and West syndrome. That is an epileptic condition suffered by one in only 250,000 people.
Sean Humphreys of Queens Park who were the visitors to the Muga today (24/09/16) has decided to raise money to help the family by agreeing to shave off his hair and his beloved beard which he has been growing for the last 10 months. Anybody who knows Sean or even the ones that don't will know that he has a famous beard!
When people connected to Cefn Albion heard about Dakotas’s story and what Sean was planning to do we decided to have a whip around between players and management to help them reach their goal. Sean has informed us that a fantastic total of £70 was handed over to him prior to this afternoons kick off (pictured) which he is really appreciative about. Our Chairman Hayden Evans was also planning on donating the takings from a football card (sold in the legion) & the raffle that was sold on the gate. We are being told the final raised by the cefners is around the £125 mark.
Our football club would like to thank all the players/management and all those who gave towards this fantastic cause and we would like to wish Sean, Dakota and all the family all the best with the fundraiser day. Anybody wanting to observe Sean undergoing his head/beard shave then there is a fundraiser day being held in the Kings Mill pub on Saturday 1st October, (highest donor gets to shave it)
If you weren’t at the game today and you would like to support Sean then you can visit https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/sean-humphreys to donate.
Well done and good luck to Sean Humphries of Queens Park from everyonemat Cefn Albion FC
