Club Statement | Chirk AAA game switched to Clywedog Park

Cefn Albion Football Club can confirm that our upcoming Ardal League North East home fixture against local neighbours Chirk AAA this Saturday (5/03/2022) has been moved from our agreed venue of The Rock, Cefn Druids, and will now be played at Clywedog Park, the home of Ardal League North West outfit Brickfield Rangers FC.

For the second time this season, we are required to move a crucial fixture at the top of the Ardal League North-East away from Cefn Mawr! On the 29th of January, after short notice, we managed to secure Clywedog Park to host Caersws after discovering that our agreed booking at the Rock had been cancelled to honour a Cymru North fixture between Gresford and Holyhead.

Once again we would like to express our gratitude to Brickfield Rangers for allowing the Cefn Albion and Chirk AAA management, players and supporters the use of the facilities at Clywedog which has enabled us to host this much-awaited local derby fixture this weekend. The kick-off is at 14:00.

Following the venue change, Cefn Albion Chairman Stewart Roberts said

“Again on behalf of the Club I would like to thank Paul Hooson and Brickfield Rangers for their help and support, but- it is again absolutely necessary for us to ensure our fixtures are fulfilled with cooperation. Having to move the fixture from Cefn is yet again regretful but necessary and the Club will in due course make a full statement. For now, though all efforts are on supporting the Management & Players in the remaining games, and we look forward to Chirks visit at the weekend”

This is a huge fixture for the football club so as per the comments from our chairman we are urging our supporters to not only come and get behind the team but let's show our appreciation to Brickfield for all their help, again! A huge response is expected from the firsts to hopefully put the disappointing result at Rockspur right.

Despite us encouraging supporters we still have to comply with all guidelines in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved. If anyone has any questions or concerns about this fixture then please don't hesitate to contact the club. There have been a few changes to the Covid protocols recently so please be mindful and remind yourself of the guidelines.
