COVID-19 pandemic ends the 2019/20 season prematurely

As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the Football Association of Wales Board of Directors have today (19 May) ratified the recommendation of the National League Board and agreed to curtail the 2019/20 season for Tiers 1 to 4

As a result of this decision our first team who were leading the way (and gathering pace) at the start of the outbreak will finish the season in third place based on points per game.

Our reserve team complete their season in 9^th position which is also based on points per game 

It is a disappointing end to what has been another fantastic season which has witnessed another talented group of local lads (both squads) competing with clubs who have far greater resources. For the first team who were arguably the most inform team in the WNL Premier division, they will be left feeling what could have been, especially (without disrespecting other clubs) looking at the remaining fixtures! We can assure you that we would have fought to the very last kick of the ball in what we believe would have been a close finish between those clubs fighting it out at the top! We were more than up for the challenge. 

Despite the disappointment that the season has been called to a premature end, health & safety and well being of those in and around the game is the most important factor which is why everyone at Cefn Albion FC totally understands and respects all decisions that have been made by the FAW.  

For the football club we now turn our attention to building for a next season where we will encourage players to come and represent us because they want to be a part of our football club. We will do everything we can to retain ALL current players and fetch in adequate replacements for those who decide to move on. The main aim is to keep this community football club competitive ready to ruffle a few more feathers and raise a few more eyebrows next season!
