As many of you will have seen, yesterday's match was brought to a premature end after a serious injury to our own Jamie Foulkes. We now have an update from Jamie himself, and want to thank everyone for the overwhelming support shown.
Jamie has dislocated his ankle and fractured both his fibula and tibia. He remains in hospital and is scheduled for surgery next week, where he’ll have metalwork fitted and may also require an Ilizarov apparatus. As you can imagine, he’s absolutely devastated and feeling pretty low right now, especially after having to break the news to his children that their family holiday next week has been cancelled. That, he says, was the hardest part. Despite the setback, Jamie is hugely grateful for the incredible support he’s received from friends, family, and everyone at Cefn Albion.
💔 Jamie now faces a lengthy recovery, will be unable to work, and has also lost the deposit for a cancelled family holiday. As a club and community, it’s time for us to rally around one of our own. He has done it for so many people over the years!
🎗 On behalf of Cefn Albion FC, our Chairman, Stewart Roberts, shared:
“On behalf of the Club, I’d like to send our love and best wishes to Jamie, Natalie and the kids. Jamie is much loved in Cefn Mawr, at Cefn Albion and beyond. We will support him and his family throughout his recovery and beyond. We’ll shortly be launching efforts to help Jamie financially during this difficult time. Please support however you can. Finally, thank you to everyone involved in Jamie’s care, from our volunteers to the paramedics and hospital staff, and to everyone who showed love and support both on the ground and online. We’re all with you, Foulksey mate.”
📣 GoFundMe
We’ve set up a GoFundMe page to try and raise funds to support Jamie and his family during his time off work. Donations of any size will be hugely appreciated. Let’s show Jamie just how strong this community is.
