We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Jamie Hulse as our new first team manager. (28th July 2025)
Jamie is a young, dynamic and progressive manager with a clear identity of how he likes his teams to play.
As a player, he made over 200 appearances in Tier 2 with the likes of Porthmadog, Denbigh and Buckley Town. He won the Welsh Alliance League twice in three years at Denbigh as well as the NEWFA Challenge Cup twice during his four-year spell at Buckley Town.
Jamie has seemingly continued his success as a player into management. Having gained valuable experience as part of Phil Hudsons’ first team backroom staff at Ruthin Town, he took over as Ruthin Town reserve team manager in 2022/23, winning the League and Cup Double.
Following his immediate success at Ruthin, Jamie was offered the first team manager’s role at Corwen, where he won the 2023/24 NEWFA Premier League, gaining promotion to the Ardal Northern Leagues.
A new chapter begins…
Jamie joins us from Corwen following a respectable 10th-place finish last season in a competitive Ardal North West League.
He is no stranger to Cefn Mawr, having spent a lot of his childhood in Trevor, and reiterated how much of a privilege it is to be joining Cefn Albion as first team manager.
“What a privilege it is to be appointed Cefn Albion manager. As soon as I spoke to Stew (Chairman) I knew it was the place I wanted to be. Huge credit to Milly (Josh Millington), Tag (Tommy Evans) and Nudge (Jack Richards) during pre-season and I’m delighted they will be staying on and working alongside me. I can’t wait to meet up with the players, committee and supporters for my first game at the Muga.”
Cefn Albion would also like to reiterate the words of Jamie and offer a huge thank you to Milly, Tag, Nudge and Ellis for their tremendous efforts last season and during pre-season.
Chairman, Stewart Roberts, offered his thoughts on our new manager:
“The club welcomes Jamie to the Albion Family. He had a good playing career at a good level and his management career has been successful thus far. Jamie’s experience and tactical awareness will help our lads no end. He has a way of how he wants to play and will quickly try to implement that. I am sure the committee, players and supporters will welcome what he brings to the Club and community too.”
“We have been looking for a new manager as we knew Milly wanted to concentrate on playing. We spoke with Tom and Jack about their coaching pathways and we also gave them the daunting task of pre-season preparation, retaining players, new recruitment and getting the squads ready for the new season. The work and effort they have shown since the end of last season and this pre-season has been huge and the club is extremely grateful for that, as is Jamie.”
“Tom and Jack will be integral as assistants to Jamie as the Club looks to mark our ‘Home Coming’ season with a return to competitiveness. The squad is strong thanks to Tom and Jack’s effort. The players will be looking forward to being back home in front of the crowds on the Muga Bank too. The Club also thanks Milly for stepping into the manager’s role.”
Welcome to Cefn Albion, Jamie.
