New Year Statement

For those who don’t already know, over the festive period the club received some very sad news regarding our very own Pauline Griffiths who after a short but brave battle with illness sadly passed away.

Pauline or more commonly known as ‘Poge’ was heavily involved with the football club and accompanied by Debbie Morris she run the small kitchen up at the muga to provide matchday refreshments. She also washed the kits for both of our teams and always helped out with post-match day refreshments whenever called upon. Pauline was a popular and well respected figure in and around our football club and she also had many relations that represent us both on and off the field. She is the partner of vice chairman Alan Davies, mother to committee member Kevin Griffiths and our club captain Paul Griffiths, Nain to player Ross Griffiths and Auntie/great Auntie to other players such as Oliver Davies, Dion Gibbins, Kien Morris and Torne Samuels. She was a good friend with everyone.

Cefn Mawr is a very close knit community and Pauline's passing has well and truly rocked the entire village. The football club would like to thank Pauline for all her hard work and commitment to us over the years and send our condolences to the family and all those affected by her passing. Moving forward the club will continue to do everything we can to help her family.
We have been contacted by the family who have informed us that the funeral will be held on Friday 6th January at 2pm in Pentre-Bychan crematorium. They have informed us that they would like to see as many of the Cefn Albion players, management, committee and supporters in attendance and preferably supporting the colour purple or those of Cefn Albion football club i.e. your club tracksuit jacket. Refreshments will be served in the Cefn Mawr Community Social Club (the legion) afterwards and everyone is invited.

Rest in peace Pauline, the Albion won’t be the same without you and you will be sadly missed by everyone connected to Cefn Albion Football club. Our thoughts remain with the close family during this difficult period.
