Ruabon Rovers Forfeit FAW Trophy R1 Tie
We have just received a notification from the FAW COMET system which confirms that Ruabon Rovers FC has abandoned our upcoming FAW Trophy R1 fixture scheduled for 17/07/21. The description is that Ruabon Rovers forfeit the tie due to COVID-19 and Cefn Albion will progress to Round 2 of the competition.
Of course, our thoughts are with anyone who has been affected by a positive covid-19 test and wish them a speedy recovery. However, we can't help but feel very disappointed with the way that it's been handled with neither our club nor secretary receiving any official communication from rovers regarding the situation. Unfortunately, the notification at 12:38 from comet today is how we found out.
To all the management, players, supporters and everyone else who has looked forward to returning to competitive football, we are sorry for any inconvenience caused. Especially to the lads who have altered shifts at work to be available for this highly anticipated local derby. Excellent attitude and commitment from our players during our training sessions this week so please go and enjoy another weekend off, at least you have the weather to look forward to!
To Jeff's (the Sheriff) family, we will ensure that the minutes silence will be observed in our next competitive match. Once again apologise that we can't honour Jeff on what would have been a very fitting occasion tomorrow.
We are almost there, keep the faith!
