Special thanks to Haydn Evans

Our first team were bidding to make it three wins in succession this afternoon and it was bottom club Overton who were the visitors to the Muga. The team headed into the fixture with the news that player manager Sean Jones was unavailable but there was a big plus as we welcomed back leading scorer Oli Davies who missed the last two weeks through work commitments.

The lads started the game well and racked up all the early possession and corner count but failed to make the upper hand count. With the sides still locked at 0-0 it was the visitors, with some newer faces amongst their ranks who took a surprise lead on the half hour mark. The seemed to unsettle the team and the performance was poor for the rest of the half. Overton held a 0-1 lead at the break.

Second half the lads come out and set a real high tempo and it was clear that whatever the management had said during the half time interval had worked. It wasn’t long before we were level and it was Nic Jones who grabbed the goal collecting his second in as many weeks within the first 5 minutes of the restart. With Albion in the decadency and MOM Dion Gibbins controlling the midfield it was only five minutes later before another goal was added and it was the returning Oli Davies who scored to put us 2-1 up. Despite the dominance from the lads the away side did have an opportunity to draw level when Aldridge was adjudged to have pushed the Overton keeper during a corner and a penalty was awarded by the man in the middle. However, big Nathan pulled off a superb spot kick save to deny the Overton striker of a leveller, his second penalty save in as many weeks. Albion kicked on and further goals from Oli Davies, Alex Williams and 16 year old Kien Morris who scored with his first touch after being introduced as a second half substitute cemented another excellent win.

A good second half performance from the team ensured that all three points were secured after a sloppy first half. The result now means that the first team are unbeaten in their last three league games which keeps us pushing in the right direction. We hope to take the good form to Hawarden next week.

Big thanks to our hard working chairman Haydn Evans for his generosity in sponsoring the match ball
