It was great to see a really large crowd from both communities making a superb effort to ensure it was a bumper crowd. From the off cefn's intent was obvious and within the first 4 minutes Albion had already racked up two corners. We were controlling the game but the visitors did pose a threat on the break. On 15 minutes Albion drew the first blood when the returning Alex Williams finished off a neat move. The goal gave Cefn even more confidence and it wasn't long before the dominance was rewarded with another goal. Oliver Davies beating the offside trap to coolly slot home. The second goal seemed to hurt Madoc and it was looking like an uphill battle for our visitors. On 35 minutes the busy Dan Cox made their afternoon even worse when he smashed home from close range. By now Cefn were beginning to prey on a wounded Plas Madoc who were having a difficult afternoon and struggling to cope with the movement and passing of Albion. Despite being three down they did force an excellent save from Josh Roberts who tipped around the post. With the half time whistle approaching Cefn were awarded a stone wall penalty which Conner Kendrick slotted home to make it 4-0. Kendrick had a great opportunity to get his second but his attempted lob beat the keeper but went narrowly wide. A dominate first half Cefn Albion display who thoroughly deservedly their 4-0 lead heading into the break.
Second half Jack Richards was introduced for our injured captain Paul Griffiths who had picked up an injury. With Cefn four goals to the good the visitors already seemed beat and as the game wore on it was more about them stopping a rout as Cefn maintained possession well passing it around with confidence and ease. Chances were being squandered to increase the score line but a top finish from Conner Kendrick was to make the game 5-0 and all but end any hope of an attempted comeback. Jimmy Jones and Oliver Davies made way for Andrew Bryn and Kien Morris who brought fresh legs into the team causing problems for a tiring Plas Madoc who were having a tough afternoon. If truth be told the game become a little flat and Cefn squandered numerous more chances to inflict a bigger scoreline. Plas Madoc almost grabbed a consolation goal when a strike came back off the bar but it was full credit to the Albion today who were a cut above our opponents. We are deservedly in the hat with a more than comfortable 5-0 victory.
Cracking support today for both teams and we would like to thank everyone who showed and made this a cracking atmosphere. We would like to thank our match ball sponsor Josie's Chip Shop and finally we would like to wish Plas Madoc and their supporters all the best for the rest of the season.
